Rumor: Red Sox “Don’t Want No Mo”

The buzz around Boston is that the Red Sox are trying to pull off a trade with the Nationals for closer Chad Cordero. While that’s certainly believable, the fact that the bait is allegedly Willy Mo Pena, strikes me as a bit odd. Don’t get me wrong, I have no doubt the Sox would like to trade Pena, I simply can’t figure out why the Nationals would give up their closer for him. I don’t care how much National GM, Jim Bowden likes Will Mo, unless there are other players involved in this deal, color me skeptical.

 

Rumor: Nationals Down to Two

The Washington Nationals’ search for a new manager appears to be down to the final two options. New York Mets’ third-base coach, Manny Acta, and Yankees’ first-base coach, Tony Pena. At least that’s what the New York Daily News is claiming. However, as with the sale of the team, the naming of the team, and seemingly everything else involving the Nationals, there is no word yet on a timeline for the decision.
